Park Maintenance
For those who may be interested in park maintenance at the new town park! A reliable source has reported to Stokesdale Watch that the mowing, cleaning, and gate operation at the park is now costing us all $4,800.00 per MONTH! This is interesting given the original estimate was $5,900.00 for the whole year or so we have been told. I guess you do have to "build it before you know how much it will cost you to maintain it" or so it was once said by a Town official.
If there is anyone out there in possession of the actual maintenance contract we would be happy to have it! We can see no reason as to why it would not be a public document? Is there some reason the tax payers that are paying the bill cannot review the contract for themselves? We will make an attempt to post it on our site if someone can send it to us?

Election Eve 2011
It is the night before the election and things are quiet as a mouse! The voters are comfortably nestled in their beds, but hardly fiscally safe! Most are thankful that for now all is quiet in the town palace …...........aka the town hall.
The politicians restlessly await election day in anticipation of ballets being counted, one by one. Some seek power or recognition, some the wealth of others. But others just want a chance to serve and to contribute their unique talent to our little town! But, we need to ask ourselves, which candidates are to be trusted to serve honestly and wisely?
Many town-folks see lots of projects to improve Stokesdale that can only be done if the mean old property owners and business would part with their cash! It is so hard for those people to contain themselves with the thought of so much of others money to spend. Who knows what is best for the property of others?
Which candidate is to be believed and which is to be avoided? How will the property owners survive in the coming months and years when so many seek what is theirs? What ever became of self-reliance, stewardship, doing to others as you would have them do unto you?
Why do so many people fail to recognize that the government only has money because it involuntarily takes it from it's citizens. What ever became of those who said that we could incorporate and remain tax free if we are wise? Does it seem that they have been replaced by mob rule and special favors for a few?
People perish when the leaders have no vision or are corrupt. So, if you are a voter, choose well. We will all suffer if you choose wrong. Let us pray that we may all be served and no one harmed by the coming new council!
